Credit Repair for Oregon Residents

From Portland to Bend, we work with Oregon residents online. Here is what Oregon's credit picture looks like, what Oregon law gives you, and how we help.

100% online, wherever you live in Oregon. No office visits, nothing to mail.

Credit Phoenix is an online, nationwide credit repair company that works with Oregon residents. We review your reports from all three bureaus, challenge items that are inaccurate, unverifiable or outdated under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and track every response. Oregon has no separate credit repair statute, so the federal three-business-day cancellation right is the one that applies.

What Oregon's credit numbers look like

Oregon sits above the national average on credit scores and files fewer credit reporting complaints per person than the country as a whole. The source sits next to each figure.

Complaints to the CFPB about credit reporting (2025)9,331 from Oregon residents, about 21.8 per 10,000 people (national rate 140.1 per 10,000)CFPB Consumer Complaint Database

None of this means your report is accurate. The Federal Trade Commission's own study found that about one in five consumers had an error on at least one credit report, and one in 20 had an error big enough to change the price of credit (FTC, 2013). The first step is always finding out what is on your reports.

Your rights under Oregon law

Federal law (the Fair Credit Reporting Act and the Credit Repair Organizations Act) applies in every state. Here is what applies to you in Oregon.

Oregon lawWhat it means for youSource
No separate Oregon credit repair statute; the federal Credit Repair Organizations Act appliesOregon's trade practices chapters (ORS 646 and 646A, read in full) contain no credit services or credit repair act. Under the federal law, any credit repair contract must be in writing, you can cancel it until midnight of the third business day after signing, and a company may not charge you for a service before that service is fully performed.15 U.S.C. 1679b, 1679d, 1679e
Unlawful collection practices, ORS 646.639Oregon's own collection law applies to anyone who collects or tries to collect a consumer debt, which reaches further than the federal FDCPA. It bans threats of violence, arrest or seizure, abusive language, and calls to your workplace more than once a week, and it was tightened again in 2024.ORS 646.639
Statute of limitations on debt, ORS 12.080A creditor generally has six years to sue on a contract, written or implied, which covers most credit cards and loans. An old debt can still appear on your report for up to seven years, and a lawsuit filed after the deadline can be defended, but only if you respond.ORS 12.080

How Credit Phoenix works with Oregon residents

  1. Free assessment. You book a call, we look at your situation and tell you honestly whether credit repair makes sense for you. If it does not, we say so.
  2. Review of all three reports. We go through Equifax, Experian and TransUnion line by line and flag items that look inaccurate, unverifiable or outdated.
  3. Challenges. We send the challenges, with the evidence, to the bureaus and to the companies that reported the items. Under the FCRA they generally have 30 days to investigate and answer.
  4. Tracking and next rounds. You see every response in your client portal. Items that come back verified get a closer look, and we tell you what we can and cannot challenge.

Everything happens online and by phone, so it works the same in Eugene as it does in Medford. We serve clients nationwide, 100% online; we do not have a Oregon office.

Questions Oregon residents ask us

Is credit repair legal in Oregon?

Yes. Oregon has no separate credit repair statute, so the federal Credit Repair Organizations Act is the law that applies: written contracts, a three-business-day cancellation right, and no promises of results.

How long does credit repair take in Oregon?

There is no fixed answer and anyone who gives you one is guessing. The bureaus generally have 30 days to answer each challenge under the FCRA, and most files take more than one round. What we can promise is that you will see every response as it comes in.

Can I cancel if I change my mind?

Yes. Federal law gives you three business days after signing to cancel a credit repair contract. The agreement you sign must explain how to cancel.

What does it cost?

Our plans and what each one includes are on our pricing page. You can start with a free assessment, and there is no charge for it.
