Credit Repair for Iowa Residents

From Des Moines to Cedar Rapids, we work with Iowa residents online. Here is what Iowa's credit picture looks like, what Iowa law gives you, and how we help.

100% online, wherever you live in Iowa. No office visits, nothing to mail.

Credit Phoenix is an online, nationwide credit repair company that works with Iowa residents. We review your reports from all three bureaus, challenge items that are inaccurate, unverifiable or outdated under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and track every response. Iowa law and federal law both let you cancel a credit repair contract within three days, and a creditor generally has ten years to sue on a written contract.

What Iowa's credit numbers look like

Iowa sits above the national average on credit scores and files fewer credit reporting and debt collection complaints per person than the country as a whole. The source sits next to each figure.

MeasureIowaSource
Average FICO Score728 in September 2025 (15 of 51 incl. D.C.; 730 a year earlier; national average 713)Experian, average FICO Score by state
Complaints to the CFPB about credit reporting (2025)7,468 from Iowa residents, about 23.0 per 10,000 people (national rate 140.1 per 10,000)CFPB Consumer Complaint Database
Complaints to the CFPB about debt collection (2025)609 from Iowa residents, about 1.9 per 10,000 people (national rate 8.2 per 10,000)CFPB Consumer Complaint Database

None of this means your report is accurate. The Federal Trade Commission's own study found that about one in five consumers had an error on at least one credit report, and one in 20 had an error big enough to change the price of credit (FTC, 2013). The first step is always finding out what is on your reports.

Your rights under Iowa law

Federal law (the Fair Credit Reporting Act and the Credit Repair Organizations Act) applies in every state. Here is what applies to you in Iowa.

How Credit Phoenix works with Iowa residents

  1. Free assessment. You book a call, we look at your situation and tell you honestly whether credit repair makes sense for you. If it does not, we say so.
  2. Review of all three reports. We go through Equifax, Experian and TransUnion line by line and flag items that look inaccurate, unverifiable or outdated.
  3. Challenges. We send the challenges, with the evidence, to the bureaus and to the companies that reported the items. Under the FCRA they generally have 30 days to investigate and answer.
  4. Tracking and next rounds. You see every response in your client portal. Items that come back verified get a closer look, and we tell you what we can and cannot challenge.

Everything happens online and by phone, so it works the same in Davenport as it does in Sioux City. We serve clients nationwide, 100% online; we do not have a Iowa office.

Questions Iowa residents ask us

Is credit repair legal in Iowa?

Yes. Iowa regulates credit services organizations under Chapter 538A of the Iowa Code, and federal law regulates them under the Credit Repair Organizations Act. Both laws exist to protect you: written contracts, a cancellation right, and no promises of results.

How long does credit repair take in Iowa?

There is no fixed answer and anyone who gives you one is guessing. The bureaus generally have 30 days to answer each challenge under the FCRA, and most files take more than one round. What we can promise is that you will see every response as it comes in.

Can I cancel if I change my mind?

Yes. Iowa law lets you cancel before midnight of the third day after the transaction, and federal law gives you three business days. The agreement you sign must explain how to cancel.

What does it cost?

Our plans and what each one includes are on our pricing page. You can start with a free assessment, and there is no charge for it.
